¼ cup Mayan Clay (I get mine in bulk from the Mayan Clay spa in Tulum but it’s not available online. I’ve heard Aztec Secret is a good substitute.)

1 teaspoon Turmeric

1 teaspoon Ashwagandha (a lot of people know about the internal benefits of Ashwagandha but there’s topical benefits as well)

1 tablespoon Witch hazel

1 teaspoon Sandalwood

Water for consistency – I like to use the charcoal-filtered water both for making the mask, and for washing my face after. Basically, all you do is drop activated charcoal (you activate it by boiling it) into a pitcher of tap water, and leave it for 6-8 hours – it acts as a natural filter and traps all the toxins. You can also drop it into a bath for detoxifying.

Put the mayan clay in a mixing bowl and add turmeric, ashwagandha, witch hazel and sandlewood. Add the charcoal water a little at a time to monitor the consistency. The goal is to get a smooth paste that is soft but not runny. Apply on your face with the brush. Leave on for 10 minutes (or until dry) and then wash off, ideally with warm charcoal water.
